Kerry Krull’s journey — from overcoming adversity to owning two of Burbank’s most beloved spots, Romancing the Bean Café and The New Deal Restaurant & Wine Bar — is shaped by hard work, heart, and hospitality.
Her weekly trips to the farmers market to select fresh ingredients is just one example of the care she pours into her craft. She’s built more than restaurants; she’s created a “home away from home.”
ABOUT US
“The New Deal is named after our neighborhood, which was built in the 1930s and known for antiques and secondhand clothing stores. There is also a Roosevelt Elementary School down the street.
I created a retro and elevated American cuisine menu, inspired by that era, with a great wine list, award-wining burgers, and delicious desserts. We source the highest-quality ingredients from local farmers and vendors with sustainable practices. Our mission is to be a cozy family neighborhood restaurant where everyone feels welcome and at home.”
— Kerry Krull, Chef, Mom & Owner
The New Deal Restaurant
The New Deal is a family-owned restaurant offering a modern take on nostalgic American recipes with 1930s revival décor. The restaurant offers front and back outdoor patio dining as well.
Chef Kerry Krull-Meadows has worked in the restaurant industry for more than 25 years and trained at Le Cordon Bleu.
Her daughter, Kendra Simon, developed the restaurant’s concept—from the charming interior design to the period artwork, to the unique dishware and vintage glasses, creating a cozy and romantic ambience.
Kerry’s son, Ramsey Krull, specializes in hospitality as well as mixology, creating the seasonal beer and craft cocktails program served at The New Deal.
